Instructor-led Course (max 10 participants)
Level: 300/400
Duration: 2 Days
Type: Full Course
Facility: BEPS Engineering “Training Lab”
Description
This two-day course builds on Microsoft's official course: “Windows® 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024” and adds practical insights into the most important topics. The course is designed with alternating pieces of theoretical and practical workshops to enable participants to consolidate with a direct exercise of the theoretical concepts gradually acquired. The course will enable the participants to become familiar with the operating system and with the tools necessary to build the O.S. image. They will learn which are the typical functions of the embedded world: Lockdown, Branding, promoting an application as “System Shell” and customizing the system, what are the deploy procedures, and which methods can be used to update and maintain the O.S. in field.
Audience
This course is intended for the system integrators within OEM organizations who are responsible for building and configuring the Windows® 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 operating system for different devices.

FULL Course
The course as a whole is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge even for those new to the Windows Embedded/IoT environment. The first day starts with the installation of working tools and basic concepts of the environment. The second day is designed to delve into the key topics of the environment with focused exercises and simulations:
- Adding system elements directly into the image or at run-time;
- Drivers of peripherals in the motherboard or on add-in cards;
- Windows updates;
- Languages in addition to the main build language (either in the image or run-time);
- FOD (Feature on demand) and other packages not present in the standard build;
- Proprietary applications with stand-alone installation kits.
- Filter management on the keyboard at build level and at run-time level;
- Shell replacement with another application differentiated by the user;
- Configuration and use of filtering on disks (UWF): overlay control, file and registry branch exclusions, HORM, Commit, etc..;
- Windows update management and device maintenance in the field;
- Disk image size reduction.
Note: This course will be conducted on virtual machines hosted by the participants' PC-laptops. Upon confirmation of course activation, we will send, to each participant, a detailed description of the configuration and prerequisites necessary for participation.
Prerequisites
This course requires that students meet the following prerequisites:
- Proficiency using the Windows Interface.
- Proficiency knowledge of VirtualBox.
Course goals
After completing this course, the student will be able to:
- Use Windows® 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 tools: Win-PE, ADK, WSIM, DISM, etc.…
- Describe the deployment process of an operating system image.
